A Message To All Public Defenders Non-Attorney's

Every couple of days I check my Sitemeter, just to see how people find their way to my site. Usually it's by looking up pornographic phrases or looking for nude pictures of ex-PD investigators, but sometimes I find stuff like this:

Do the citizen's of our country really think that Public Defenders do not have to pass the bar exam in their state? Maybe people just think they are in a category by themselves? Not average citizens and not attorneys...but somewhere in the middle?

I've heard a few clients say derogatory crap against their PD's but I always thought it was because they were just busting their balls. I never thought they actually believed it.

I guess I'm just naive.

There have been a rash of instances where PD's turned out to not have passed the bar and got in trouble. Skelly had a series on his blog.

I have once or twice, maybe more, had clients, the more irritating ones (actually the numbers are not as high as you would think) convinced that Attorney's go to law school for three years, PD's go to PD school which is six weeks, three of which is an intership.....
